At the invitation of Fr. Victor Mena, the Salesian Sisters and the Sisters of Mary of Kakamega hosted a parish-wide Family Advent Retreat on December 5. The evening opened with prayer led by Sr. Florence Machengo, followed by a reflection from Sr. Shaila Mathai on the theme “Trusting in God: Waiting in Hope,” reminding families that Advent is a season of active and hopeful waiting.
Elizabeth Wostarek, a postulant with the Salesian Sisters, led icebreakers and a family Advent calendar craft, while Sr. Jean Erickson concluded the evening with a reflection on the meaning of Advent. The night ended with fellowship, treats, and hot chocolate, leaving families encouraged to enter the Advent season with renewed hope.
